Meet Your School Nurse
Student Health and Wellness at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy
Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy is committed to fostering the health and well-being of every student. Our school nurses play a vital role in creating and sustaining a healthy school community by implementing strategies that support the physical and emotional wellness of students, staff, families, and the broader community.
To best care for your child, we ask that you notify the school nurse promptly (via the school office phone or school email) if your child experiences any of the following:
-
A chronic or acute illness
-
A new prescription or a change in medication dosage
-
Exposure to communicable diseases such as strep throat, chickenpox, or conjunctivitis
-
A life-threatening or newly diagnosed allergy
-
A serious injury requiring hospitalization
-
A diagnosed head concussion
-
An injury requiring casting, sutures, a splint, or mobility support (e.g., crutches or a wheelchair)
-
Vision or hearing difficulties
The school nurse collaborates with your child’s physician, teacher, and other school personnel to ensure your child’s health needs are met, enabling them to fully benefit from their educational experience. Please note that a doctor’s note is required for any activity restrictions due to illness or injury.
How You Can Help
-
Ensure that all phone numbers (home, work, and cell) on your child’s school record are accurate and up-to-date so the nurse can reach you in case of an emergency.
