TJCA varsity soccer wins on Senior Night; Charlie Schweppe set to play for 1A State Championship

 
The Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy (TJCA) varsity girls soccer team earned a 4-0 win over Burns on Senior Night on Thursday evening. 
In the win, Kaitlyn Rowe and Selma McMurry both scored two goals. Emily Alexander and Margaret Schweppe both collected an assist in the win. Emily Short preserved a clean sheet in the victory. 
Five seniors were recognized in a special ceremony. Those seniors included Rayney Maxwell, Elise Richards, Margaret Schweppe, Rachel Cobb, and Kaitlyn Rowe.  
TJCA returns to action on Monday at Highland Tech. 
 
Freshman Charlie Schweppe advances to State Championship match
Charlie Schweppe advanced to the 1A tennis State Championship match on Saturday after a pair of impressive victories on Friday morning. 
Schweppe won his first match 6-0, 6-1 to advance to the semifinals, where he defeated Elkin's Owen Jennings in three sets (6-1, 3-6, 6-3). 
Schweppe will play Langtree Charter's Nikhil Deshpande for the State Championship on Saturday.
