HS girls soccer picks up win; MS girls soccer, HS boys tennis bow out

 

AVONDALE — The Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy (TJCA) high school girls soccer team picked up an impressive 2-0 victory over Asheville Christian Academy on Tuesday evening. 

Margaret Schweppe and Selma McMurry were responsible for the two goals and Emily Short preserved a clean sheet as the Lady Gryphons improved to 9-2-1 on the year. 

TJCA will host Burns on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.

MS girls soccer falls in playoffs

The TJCA Middle School girls soccer team fell in the Tri-County Conference Playoff Semifinal match, 1-0 to North Lincoln. 

The Lady Gryphons finished the season with a 10-1 mark after winning the West Division with a 10-0 regular season.

HS boys tennis falls to Bishop McGuiness

The TJCA high school boys tennis team dropped their second-round playoff match to Bishop McGuiness 5-1. Charlie Schweppe won his singles match 6-2, 6-2, while Turner Cook and Aidan O’Reilly both won a set, but fell in the third-set tiebreaker. 

The Gryphons finished the season with a 10-3 record after going a perfect 9-0 in conference play and capturing the conference championship.
