7th annual Burgundy and Gold Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament approaching

AVONDALE — The 7th annual Burgundy and Gold Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, April 29 at Cleghorn Golf and Sports Club.

The Burgundy and Gold Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy (TJCA) students who plan to further their education at the college level.

Over the past eight years, since the fund was created, TJCA graduates have continued their education in several fields including medicine, public health, engineering, education, ministry, and fine arts. Ryanne Corder was awarded one of the first scholarships from the Burgundy and Gold Scholarship fund in 2012. After graduating from Notre Dame in 2016, she is now finishing medical school at UNC-Chapel Hill.

The Burgundy and Gold Scholarship fund continues to help students achieve their career and academic goals. Will Waters, one of our recent recipients, expressed his appreciation for his time at TJCA, and for the Burgundy and Gold Scholarship Fund.

It may be said a lot, but for good reason: TJ prepares you for college in ways you could never imagine. Whether it be knowing how to write and properly format a paper, debate in a formal and logical manner, or give a speech in front of a large group of people, TJ provided the experience necessary to help me in my first year at Gardner-Webb in an extraordinary way. The  Burgundy and Gold Scholarship provided much-needed financial assistance which now allows me to strengthen those abilities I learned at TJ and create a great future for myself.”

The Burgundy and Gold Scholarship Committee plans to continue providing substantial scholarships to college-bound students. Our success, growth, and longevity depend on the generosity of our donors.

One way to help support these scholarships is by playing or becoming a sponsor for the upcoming golf tournament. The cost to play in the tournament is $300 per team ($75 per player) and includes a cart, green fee, lunch, range balls, raffle prize, and one free VIP pass per player to Cleghorn.

There are also four different sponsorship opportunities. You can be a Diamond Sponsor ($1,000), which includes a full 3x5 color banner and one team. The Gold Sponsorship level is $500 and includes a sign on a tee box and at the scoreboard or registration table as well as one team. The Burgundy Sponsorship ($250) includes a sign on a tee box and at the scoreboard or registration table. You can also be a Gryphon Sponsor ($100), which includes a sign on the course.

The tournament will feature lunch at noon and a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

100% of the proceeds from the tournament will fund scholarships for TJCA seniors.
