Mask Mandate Update

The Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy Board of Directors met tonight and voted that as of tomorrow, March 2nd, masks will be encouraged but not required for employees and students.  Please note that in alignment with the updated CDC guidance announced February 25th this includes masks being encouraged but not required on school transportation.

This decision was not made lightly and is consistent with the recommendations of the NCDHHS, the CDC, and our local health officials.  We are proud of the fact that throughout the pandemic our protocols and precautions have managed to keep the majority of our community COVID-19 free.  The NCDHHS recognizes that additional precautions may need to be taken to continue to maintain a safe school environment. More information has been emailed to our families about these precautions.

It will be a personal decision for each member of our community to wear, or not wear, a mask while inside TJCA buildings.  While it will be each individual’s right to choose to not wear a mask, it will also be their right to choose to wear one.  We will continue to encourage and support an accepting environment on campus regardless of one’s individual choice.

Please be assured that the safety of everyone in the TJCA community is of the highest importance to the Board of Directors and the school administration and they will continue to monitor the situation.  Thank you all for your continued support and cooperation!
