Being honored by selection to the National Junior Honor Society or the National Honor Society means both public recognition of accomplishment and private commitment to excellence on the part of the new member. Selection is a privilege, not a right.
Selection is at once an honor and an obligation. Students are selected by a Faculty Council for outstanding performance in the areas of scholarship, leadership, character, and citizenship. Members at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy are required to keep high academic standards, demonstrate good moral character, accumulate at least 20 documented service hours per year, and act as leaders in their schools and communities.
